Following a recent PYP virtual round-table, I would like to share online resources that I use in my 5th grade French immersion class. Immersion means that all inquiries and any subject area content is taught in French, and students in 5th grade are expected to read native level material Still, not all do! I vary the levels by using the following resources :

     - Brainpop exists both in French and Spanish

    - the most valuable resource for me by far is a French online newsmagazine called 1jour1actu.com. It addresses ANY current issue and enables sometimes difficult conversations about our current world. Info exists in written, animated, and audio forms. This is great for students from G4 through middle school with a good level of French. There is a limited free access.

www.lepetitquotidien.fr  - some interesting free access, for example: http://www.lepetitquotidien.fr/dossiers-thematiques/view/l-arrivee-de-migrants-en-europe. Also contains a news broadcast for kids: http://www.lepetitquotidien.fr/le-petit-plus/category/le-petit-jt-13

    - if you're ok with wiki sites: http://fr.wikimini.org/wiki/Accueil or https://fr.vikidia.org/wiki/Vikidia:Accueil (for older kids) are great for initial research and best of all, kids can contribute by writing articles.

These are for research or current event purposes. I am happy to share resources to enhance academic learning in French if needed. Let me know!
